We Are the Champions!

Cue the music by Queen! Congratulations to the Detroit Pistons, who beat the L.A. Lakers in five games to win the NBA title. Four games to one, way to go! Too bad the Red Wings didn't win this year. It would have been fun for both teams to have the championship. Now we just need to get the Lions and Tigers on track. Yeah, I know I live in New York now, but I'll always be a Detroit fan. Congrats again to the Pistons.

Day At the Park

Hi everyone!

Today Alanna and I had a nice day together. We got up around 11:00, and then went to get The Saturn washed, for free at the dealership. They had free donuts! Then we went to a Chevy dealer to see if we won any prizes. They sent us a flyer with a code on it. We were guaranteed to win two prizes out of the five possible. They were giving away one $5000 cash prize, one $2500 cash prize, one Sony Playstation 2, all with odds of winning 1 in 14,000. Then there were the prizes with odds in winning 13,997 in 14,000. Those were the prizes we won. We received a $500 shopping spree with some online catalog thing, where you can choose dumb prizes like cheap watches and multi-function needle-nose pliers, or credit card sized calculators. Nothing worth paying the $80 tax and delivery charges. We also won a "5 day vacation extravaganza." We can choose one OR both of the Florida and Bahama cruise package. We'll see what we do there. Oh well, at least we got free hot dogs, hamburgers, pop, and chips at the dealership. I love free stuff. That reminds me, I won a FREE CD from the radio station yesterday. I won Eric Clapton's new disc, "Me and Mr. Johnson."
Anyway, after we got home from our morning activities, we loaded up the Saturn with our bikes, folding chairs, and sandwiches and headed off to the park. We rode five miles on our bikes, then sat by the water and read our books and relaxed. We then ate our food. It was a fun time at the park. We're thinking we may bring the bikes back often.
Well we've been pretty lazy for the rest of the day. Tomorrow we're going clean the house. Woohoo! Then we're going to a cookout with some people from our church small group.
I have many movies to review online for you. We've seen the third "Harry Potter" installment, "Man On Fire", and as Alanna posted, "Supersize Me." We've also rented movies such as "Something's Gotta Give," and "Haunted Mansion." We'll see how many of those I get to. We still have not watched the third Matrix flick yet. Maybe I should ask for someone to e-mail ME a review. Hey that's a good idea! I'll post someone's "Matrix Revolutions" review if anybody sends me one!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

McDisgusted

Tim and I finally used the free passes we had to the local theatre down the road from us. We've had them since February but the movies that run there are usually hit or miss. We've only seen two movies there: Monster and Super Size Me. Yes, Super Size Me was the documentary we saw tonight and we were completely flaberghasted when we left the theatre. I know that Tim usually does the movie reviews, and I won't get as technical as he does, but I thought I would post this for him. I will admit, we like to eat occasionally at the golden arches, however, I think that will change effective immediately. This film is a must-see and truely acknowledges how this corporation is feeding the obesity epidemic in our country. Check out the link to learn a bit more and let me know if you go see it!

Out With the Old, In With the New!

Hi Everybody!

Yesterday we said goodbye to Alanna's Honda she's had for the last 7 years. We did some car shopping this past weekend, and went to pick up our new Saturn Vue! Isn't it beautiful? We are so excited! Can you see it here on our faces? Actually, I think both of us were trying to hold those smiles pretty long. The Saturn team made a big production out of the pick-up. While we were being introduced to the service manager, everybody else was gathering in the showroom to welcome us with applause. They even had a "Thank you" chant they did for us, then all came to shake our hands. I'll say this: they are very friendly and helpful there.

Here's a nice pic of our new baby. And here's an interior shot for you. It's nice and roomy.

Our new Saturn has a power sunroof, CD player, power windows/locks, remote entry, and is a 5-speed stick shift. It's got alloy wheels, fold down seats (including front passenger), and air conditioning.
We also opted for the maintenance program, where we get all of our oil changes, tire rotations, general maintenance and stuff done for FREE, for the life of the vehicle, at any Saturn dealer. We also get free carwashes and vacuums, although I think all Saturns get that.

Alanna and I are very happy with our new ride. It's fun, sleek, and sporty! I'd recommend dealing with Saturn. They're no pressure, are very helpful and informative, and pretty laid back. We definitely had a good experience with them.

Well, I hope you all enjoyed the pics. Goodbye!

Tim
